Turn on a faucet. Water your lawn. Wash the car.
Refresh the gold fish bowl. These simple things you
might do on any given day in Crenshaw, Butler or
Montgomery counties, you take for granted that
water will be flowing any time of day you twist a tap.
It happens in part because Steve Jackson is doing
his job. Steve has been Manager of the Quint-Mar
Water Authority for nine years offering sixteen
years experience in the business of providing quality
water flows to the more than 2,500 homes comprising
portions of this rural area.

Steve has added one more Job' to his resume. This native of Danielsville, Alabama has joined the MonCre Board of
Directors where his background and experience will help guide your cooperative. He has been married to his wife,
Shauna, for 24 years. She is employed at Russell Oil while their two daughters, Megan, 18, and Rebecca, 16, continue
their educational careers.
Steve stays active in several community organizations and devotes weekends to "part hobby, part work, part family
and fun. With partner, Ned Norris, Steve purchased the Oakhill circular sawmill. Somewhat similar to the Walton
Mountain sawmill, the two delved to custom cut logs providing a "rustic" look employed by many contactors,
homeowners and craftsmen. He enjoys this work, perhaps a talent inherited from his cabinet-maker father. It is a
specialized field, providing a custom service. The sawmill was already 50 years old when purchased from Bennett and
Annie Cox, long-time residents of Hope Hull.
Steve serves as a member of the Gideon Organization, adding to the placement of Bibles in hotels, motels, prisons,
public and private schools and other places where allowed. He helps, too, with fundraising. Gideon Bibles are afforded
by special Church offerings and each individual Gideon pays dues applied toward staffing and administrative services and makes numerous church visits to maintain
His new appointment as a MonCre board member is one he takes seriously. When assessing the role, he remarked that "an important part of our job is to assure the
members of the co-op that MonCre provides dependable, affordable services. "But",
he continued, "it is not my goal to micro-manage. We have a good staff and the management is doing an excellent job.

With just a few board meetings so far, I've begun to learn more about the company, it's services and product capabitlities. The
important things that will make MonCre grow in a positive manner." he says. "I look forward to watching that happen."
