Elaine Norman may not have twenty years experience, but you could not tell it by looking at her roses. In fact, she has them in the palm of her hand.
She has been raising roses for four to five years. “I started out with a dozen varieties,” she says. Now, you cannot count them all. Strolling through the roses with Elaine, she points out one dazzling color after the other. There is uniqueness in the rose beds, with variations ranging from pinks to orange, and lavender to reds. One of her favorites she identifies as Mr. Lincoln. Another, French Perfume.
Elaine uses her roses as a painter uses his brush. She cleverly arranges her roses to paint the canvas of her yard, art of a 500-acre expanse. She has added an oasis of greenery, roses and statuary to provide a cool place in the lower yard, and set knockout roses to border the outer edge of the swimming pool, congenially mixing the assorted varieties within the pool gates. It is a luscious and inviting combination for family and friends.
MonCre telephone staff members and customers alike have the opportunity to enjoy Elaine’s beautiful roses, too. She often brings delightful rose bouquets to the office for all to enjoy.
If your interest is peaked, perhaps you might want to start your own rose garden, or at least plant a few dozen bushes. If so, the Ramer Rose Society will be happy to provide you with information and what it takes to get you started.
The magnificent rose is hard to resist. It is by far the most beloved flower that ever bloomed…a floral symbol of trust, love and hope for generations.
“Just remember in the winter,
Far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed that
With the sun’s love in the spring
Becomes the Rose.”
