A Few Words From Mon•Cre General Manager Jerry McGee About This Very Special Issue

My wife, Stacer and I are very proud to be a part of the Mon•Cre family, and consider ourselves fortunate to be here. We enjoy a quality of life in our rural communities that is the envy of many folks who have to exist in the hustle and bustle of city life. I am a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Stacer is from Charleston, South Carolina. Most of our lives together we have lived in urban environments, but had no trouble getting used to our new setting in Ramer. We are indeed happy to be here.

Mon•Cre Telephone Cooperative, Inc. has come a long way in the 50 years it has been serving its owners. I won’t delve into the history of the company here, because it has been covered so well in the other parts of this publication. Rather, I will take this opportunity to indicate my appreciation for those who have made it possible.

I am very fortunate to have a great staff of caring professionals to work with. Their efforts are really what makes all of Mon•Cre’s accomplishments happen. Our staff is well trained and does an excellent job in each of their respective positions, but more than that, they care about Mon•Cre and the level of service we provide to our customer owners. Rarely a day goes by without us being involved in some discussion about how we can do things better, how we can improve our services, how can we cut costs to make sure our customers can have services at reasonable prices. This doesn’t come just from the management staff, everyone gets involved. That is their level of commitment to you, and I love and appreciate each and every one of them.

We would be remiss if we didn’t say something about the efforts of those who pioneered this company and really got things “cranked up”. You will read in this publication about those who had the dream and drive to create Mon•Cre Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and to them we are eternally grateful for having been there and done that. However, we must remember, for an organization to really become successful someone had to be there daily to make sure things progressed as they should. For Mon•Cre, those persons were Betty and Larry Menefee. They were a formidable team whose tireless efforts assured the success of MonCre. It was they who “set the mark” for those of us who would assume the responsibilities of assuring Mon•Cre’s continued success. The mere words “Thank You” don’t convey the full appreciation of what they accomplished for Mon•Cre and the communities we serve, but anyway “Thank you” Betty and Larry for all your hard work and sacrifice.

I pledge to you our continued efforts to constantly strive for the betterment of Mon•Cre Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and its continued success for the next 50 years. Working together, which gives meaning to the word “cooperative”, we can assure the success of Mon•Cre Telephone Cooperative now and in the future.

Happy 50 th Anniversary MonCre.

Sincerely,

Jerry McGee
