Windows XP Creating a New Dial-up Connection

 

 

 

Step 1:

Click the Create a new connection Link on the left.

 

If there is a padlock icon beside the connection, a firewall has been enabled.
Either make a new connection or click advanced in network connections and disable it.

 

 

Step 2:

 

Click “Next”

 

Step 3:

 

 

 

Click “Connect to the Internet” and then click “Next”.

 

 

Step 4:

 

 

Click “Set up my connection manually”.  Then click “Next”.

Step 5:

 

 

Click “Connect using a dial-up modem” and then click “Next”.

Type the Name of your ISP here, this is not your account name, just simply the name of your ISP, or any name you would like to give this connection.  Once done, click “Next”.

Step 7:

 

 

Type in your local access number here.  Then click “Next”.

 

 

Step 8:

 

 

Type in your username and password here, you will need to confirm your password as well as selecting any appropriate fields.  Once complete, click “Next”.

 

Step 9:

 

 

 

Click finish to end the wizard, you should not be able to connect up using your new session.

 

 

 

 

The last thing you will want to check is located under your account settings in whichever mail client program you are using.  Under your setting for “Incoming [POP3]” and “Outgoing [SMTP]” addresses, make sure they are set to the following.

            ftp.mon-cre.net

 

USENET Newsgroup address:

            news.mon-cre.net
